I konkurrens med 320 projekt från 25 länder vann Umeåprojektet Bibliotek 2007 European Public Sector Award inom kategorin Collaborative Governance. Priset delas ut 12-13 november vid en ceremoni i Lucerne, Schweiz. Juryns motivering lyder:
Bibliotek 2007 is the story about how borrowers in the smallest municipality in Sweden got access to one of the largest book stocks in the country. It is also the story about how accessibility increased for borrowers in general, and the disabled in particular. Current status and future steps for the EU funded project ended in March 2007 but the cooperation between the six municipalities continues. A common library system has been the mainstay with a joint catalogue and a single library card. Audioindex is a revolutionary aid for visually impaired. A new joint library web site is being developed with the following catchwords: · Innovative = innovation geared to people's needs, desires, behaviour · Intuitive = high accessibility and adapted to different target groups · Informative = provide answers to questions and offer services that are requested · Interactive = serves as a virtual meeting place, that is to say a place where people can log in and exchange views. www.minabibliotek.se is regarded by many as an answer to the Library 2.0 concept model. Lessons learned: If there is a willingness to cooperate, then most of the problems will be resolved.
